There are a plethora of drugs and natural therapies that are being utilized to ease the symptoms associated with this condition. Most are built around easing the inflammation, and swelling in the joints. Others are focused on decreasing the build of uric acid in the blood stream, the main culprit in the swelling and pain.
The bodies of healthy individuals have no problem dissolving uric acid into the blood stream. Gout sufferers bodies do not. As a result, hyperuricaemia occurs. Uric acid crystals and deposits develop and cause pain and swelling in the joints and extremities.
